Tina Lindström Frausin
I am a sculptor who works in different scales, from small objects to
large sculptures and installation for both interior and exterior
location, private and public commissions. Foremost I work with glass,
but don’t hesitate to be creative with other materials as hand tufted
textile, mosaic, concrete, ceramic, photography, ice, snow and fire.
My source of inspiration is the ocean, open spaces, rust and decay. I
am into recycling and use things that other people rejected and
regard as without value. I reflect on humans, our relation to places
that are abandoned or forgotten and try to give those places a new
meaning or function. My expression is free, full of associations and
surprises.
-I call myself a multiartist.
For my glas sculptures I use found objects that are connected to the
place where I work at the moment. Sand is my preferred mould material
as it is so spontaneous. The direct, hot and dramatic process of sand
casting appeals to me. I like the expression of my glass to be rough,
and I don’t hesitate to put the diamond saw into the finished piece.
I combine hand tufted textile with glass, and the result is often
presented as a sort of stage design or installations.
I have studied glass design at Kolding university of fine arts and
The Glass and Ceramic school at Bornholm, in Denmark. I have also
done several occasions as an artist in residence in Asia, Australia,
United States and Europe.
